Dear students,
You have to write a Research Proposal as an assignment for the paper Research Methodology, Major Course Code 611.
This assignment should reflect the learning outcomes up to the current sixth semester. You are expected to use the knowledge you have acquired from all Sociology (Major Course) Papers, Selective Papers (Minor Course), Multidisciplinary Courses, and Skill Enhancement Courses. You are expected to frame the research proposal based on what you have already studied in Research Methodology, Tools, and Techniques in the 5th semester, as well as what you are studying under this paper in the 6th semester.
In real life, after completing your graduation, your knowledge should gratify others, even when you speak or write just two sentences. Your knowledge should be evident and naturally demonstrated, rather than explicitly stating your formal educational degree.
These are the Steps of doing Research
Choose the topic of your choice. There is no good or bad topic. It should be logical.
Introduction of the Subject Matter of Research
Literature Review related to your Research Proposal
Find what's left to do, or it's known as a Research Gap/s
Expected Use of Proposed Research.
Make a Hypothesis (One to a Maximum of Three) (Please Note: Some kinds of Research do not need a Hypothesis, like Exploratory Research)
Make a Research Question based on and supporting the Hypothesis
Find and Justify a Suitable Methodology to fulfil this Research Gap with respect to the Hypothesis
Find and Justify Tools and Techniques suitable for the Methodology

Write it within 1,000 to 1,500 words
For this assignment, you must work in groups of three to four. STRICTLY NO individual submissions or presentations allowed.
Two Students’ Research Project (SRP) selected students cannot be members of the same group. (The purpose is to spread the knowledge.)
Please submit your name and group members by Wednesday, January 7 2026. If you are unable to form a group by Thursday, January 8, 2026, you need to meet with me.
You must write Your Name, Batch, Semester, Name of the paper, Paper code, and Roll Number. You must mention the Name and Designation of the teacher.
Use only A4-size paper
Write both sides of the paper
Do not put it in any plastic cover or folder. Just use a stapler.
It must be written in good handwriting, NOT typed.
Students are free to seek help from anyone
Do not use any Artificial Intelligence (AI), as it will destroy your thinking and creative skills.
Your Research Proposal must reflect your knowledge of Research Methodology, Methods, Tools, Techniques, and Knowledge from other papers of sociology and Minor Courses (MICs). I used to emphasise in class that every presentation should be a true reflection of your comprehensive skills and accumulated knowledge. It’s not just about delivering content—it’s about demonstrating your understanding, communication abilities, analytical thinking, and personal engagement with the topic.
Marks will be given separately for the written submission and presentation. These Marks will be added to your Mid-Semester Examination.
Please submit your assignment by Saturday, January 20 2026.
Following the submission, each group will deliver a class presentation.
While every member must present a different section, any student may be asked questions regarding the written report or the presentation.
Please ensure you include the submission date on your work, as late submissions will result in a marks deduction.
Please keep one copy with you for presentation.
For any clarification, please ask in the class or department. If I am absent and you need any assistance, please contact me through your Class Representative.
